Plea of not guilty entered for suspect in La Crosse computer fraud plot

WIZM News

An Illinois man pleads not guilty to defrauding an elderly La Crosse man of more than $80,000.

On Friday, Anas Vohra chose not to have an evidence hearing before Judge Elliott Levine, and Vohra will be scheduled for trial.

Vohra was arrested last month for allegedly pretending to be a Microsoft employee, and putting a warning message on the man’s laptop computer, requiring the victim to bring Vohra large amounts of cash to get the computer fixed. The victim allegedly made three cash deliveries to Vohra, in amounts as high as $30,000. The deliveries occurred on the grounds of the Diocese of La Crosse, where the victim was employed.
