DOJ files charges against Kansas City men accused of robbing metro banks

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two men from Kansas City are being charged after a string of bank and business robberies around the Kansas City Metro, the United States Department of Justice says.

According to the DOJ, 21-year-old Makih Hall and 29-year-old Lazaro Medina-Lopez are being charged with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, Hobbs Act robbery and two counts of bank robbery.

Both men are additionally being charged individually, Hall with one count of attempted Hobbs Act robbery and Medina-Lopez with one count of attempted bank robbery, the DOJ says.

Hobbs Act robbery is defined as an armed robbery of a business that receives its goods from other states, per the DOJ.
