It’s tax season, and scammers know this is an excellent time of year to strike. Swindlers will pose as tax preparers and IRS agents to steal your refund and identity. Consumer Reports explains just how the scams work, plus some filing advice on whether you plan to hire a pro or do your own.
Uncle Sam certainly knows some of our private information. Reporting how much you make, where you work, your bank account information, and, let’s not forget, that all-mighty Social Security number—a lot is a risk.
